Boka Kitchen and Bar
Saturday, February 9th, 2008Filed Under American, Downtown, Northwest | 16 Comments
You all must be tired of reading about my birthday by now. It really wasn’t a never ending birthday as some of you thought. Since my birthday is my favorite day of the year, I have been talking about it for a while, so I can see why you would think that. But the celebrations lasted for barely two days, a dinner with friends the night before, and dinner with Siv the birthday night. So I promise, this is the […]
A Birthday Celebration at Red Fin
Saturday, January 19th, 2008Filed Under Asian, Downtown, Japanese, Seattle Restaurants, Sushi | 30 Comments
Siv’s birthday was on a Wednesday this year. We had a private celebration at home, with just the two of us, where I cooked a bunch of his favorite dishes. Then Friday night, we had another celebration with the gang, and after considering a bunch of places, I picked Red Fin as the venue. Siv’s favorite cuisine is Pan-Asian, and Red-Fin was advertised as Asian Fusion, and had some rave reviews too.
Red Fin is owned by the same sushi chef […]
Restaurant Review: 94 Stewart
Saturday, September 22nd, 2007Filed Under American, Downtown, Mediterranian | 9 Comments
One of the after-effects of maintaining a restaurant review blog is that your friends start treating you like an expert in the area, and sometimes call on you to get restaurant recommendations. This is an easy task when you are not part of the guest list, send them to one of your favorite restaurants. But when you are also a member of the dinner party, there is a huge dilemma. Should you recommend a tried and tested restaurant that you know is good, or […]
Vessel - Another Swanky Seattle Bar
Saturday, April 14th, 2007Filed Under Bar, Downtown, Tapas | 7 Comments
Ever since Vessel opened to much fanfare end of last year, we’ve been meaning to check it out. So yesterday when our dear friends called up to say that they have a babysitter for the night and wants to come over downtown to hang out and would like to have dinner at Benihana, which is on the same block as Vessel, I was so eager to suggest meeting at Vessel for drinks first. After Seattle P-I’s restaurant critic linked to my […]
Sunday Brunch at Etta’s
Wednesday, April 11th, 2007Filed Under American, Breakfast/Brunch, Downtown, Northwest, Seafood | 10 Comments
I’ve been contemplating for a couple of days whether to post a review about our Easter Sunday brunch at Etta’s Seafood or not. I’ve been writing reviews only if the food or the experience is really good or really bad. Etta’s is somewhere in the middle, not much to complain about, but nothing to write home about either! I know it is a Seattle favorite, but I’ve been thinking lately that it might just be the hype -Tom Douglas owns the place, so […]
FareStart - A Restaurant with a Cause
Saturday, March 10th, 2007Filed Under American, Downtown, Northwest | 2 Comments
FareStart is one of those restaurants where you can eat without feeling guilty that the money you spend on food can feed a small district in Africa. Why? Because every penny you spend here helps someone start a new life. They are a non-profit organization that teaches homeless and other disadvantaged the necessary job and life skills to find a job in the food service industry.
The FareStart adult program is an intensive training program combining over 16-weeks of hands-on food-service […]
Marazul - Yet another new restaurant in Seattle
Thursday, March 1st, 2007Filed Under Caribbean, Downtown, Latin American | Leave a Comment
Marazul is the new Asian-Latino restaurant opened in South Lake Union, on top of the Whole Foods Market on Westlake Ave, next to the Pan-Pacific hotel and Live 2200 condos. They just opened last Thursday (Feb 22nd), and when we decided to grab a quick bite out on Tuesday night, we had no problem agreeing on the restaurant for a change. The description of their cuisine - a fusion of Cuba, the Caribbean islands, and Indo-Asian territories - sounded very […]
Le Pichet - A Real French Restaurant in Seattle
Sunday, February 25th, 2007Filed Under Downtown, French | 2 Comments
We had brunch at the Le Pichet on Saturday, a tiny French cafe in Belltown, with a true Parisian vibe. The menu is real French, not the French influenced fare you find in most other French restaurants around here. Don’t get me wrong, I very much enjoy the French influenced northwestern cuisine, but Le Pichet is pleasantly different, and is guaranteed to remind you of Paris, if you have been there.
The brunch menu has some very interesting choices. If you go […]
Earth & Ocean
Wednesday, January 24th, 2007Filed Under American, Downtown, Northwest, Seafood | Leave a Comment
Saturday night we went out into the town to celebrate Hema’s birthday. First stop, the W bar at the Earth & Ocean; a fantastic restaurant in the W Hotel downtown. We sat at the lounge with the trendy and sleek but comfy furniture that adds to the hip atmosphere one would expect from a W hotel lobby. The bar was packed with beautiful people in beautiful clothes, both tourists and locals. The lounge was less crowded, but was more suited […]
QUBE - Newest addition to Belltown
Thursday, January 11th, 2007Filed Under Asian, Downtown, French | Leave a Comment
I was exploring NwSource to find a place to take Siva for his Birthday dinner, and I found this new restaurant in Belltown that opened just less than a month ago. QUBE- described as Asian-French cuisine. Since that is one of Siva’s favorite genre of food, I immediately made an OpenTable reservation. Since it is so close to home, I was hoping we will like this as much as Monsoon, and will satisfy our pan-Asian cravings without having to drive […]
