If you are a food blogger keeping track of the ongoing blog events, I am sure you looked at this title and thought, Star Anise and Pomegranate - oh she is killing two birds with one stone… But you are wrong, my friend! I am actually trying to kill four birds with one stone! Confused? Did you forget that Asparagus is an aphrodisiac?
Given it’s phallic shape, asparagus is frequently enjoyed as an aphrodisiac food. Feed your lover boiled or steamed […]

Some people asked me about my training, I can’t really get into details because it was a work related event. It was a grueling four days of Experiential Learning. If you are not familiar with the concept, check it out here.
It is a very effective method for learning; even though things may not hit you then and there, eventually you will get some insights. I’ve been getting some epiphanies over the weekend when I reflect on the course, some of […]

Cooking for one is not fun. When Siv goes away on a business trip, I normally resort to leftovers and take-outs if I don’t find anyone to go out with. I am too lazy to cook an elaborate meal just for myself. I am not into eating out alone either! I can do pretty much everything alone, I am proud of being quite self sufficient, but hate sitting in a restaurant by myself. Sometimes I am forced to, like on all […]

I made my first bread! While I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece, it didn’t turn out to be a total disaster, in fact it tasted pretty great! In the looks department, it was just okay… the top looked too dry and had some cracks, but the inside was really moist. I am so darn proud of my creation, I had this for dinner the night I made it.
It all started about three weeks ago, when I got an email from a favorite […]
Date and Pecan Pudding

A couple of months ago I picked up some (read, a lot) dates just because it was on sale! Normally this is okay, our fridge is usually empty save for a bunch of fruits, some dried out vegetables and some take-out food containers, usually way past the expiration dates. So cleaning out the fridge used to be pretty much about throwing stuff out. But these days it is a different story. The real-estate inside the refrigerator is prime- the crispers are […]
Fried Kibbeh Balls - Lebanese cuisine

The best Lebanese food I’ve ever had was in Ireland of all the places! I was in Dublin on a business trip and my Irish colleagues took us to their favorite Lebanese restaurant for dinner - may be because there were people from four different continents in our group - and the food was amazing! Next day I was out shopping , I wasn’t looking for it, but it so happened that there was a tiny pocket sized Lebanese cookbook next to the check-out counter and […]
