Two sure signs that the weight loss program has been successful:
- Parents take one look at you and get really sad!
- Relatives and neighbors think recession has hit you really hard!
Now I just have to make sure that I don’t get too “prosperous” in these three weeks.
Not being able to weigh myself daily is driving me nuts. So the first order of business – buy a weighing scale!
Will keep you posted!

Do I have the only mother in the world who wants her daughter(s) to be as thin (yet healthy) as possible!? I guess so!
You are in Kerala? (jealous look!)
For the time being, I’m just J that you are in India.
@ Nags: My mom thinks very similarly.
You’re in India?
Hmmm… no via Delhi happening?

Sig, don’t worry about staying healthy, you will regret for passing up those goodies once you get here. I always do. But good luck with the self control.

Have fun!
Hi hi sig i know what you mean, 2 years back when i lost some 15 kg and went to India for holiday they all thought i was sick and my mom was so sad saying i look so thin.
Enjoy Kerala and I am really really jealous.
LOL, yup, that’s the reaction most people have
.
Enjoy your break
That’s a beautiful photo! Best of luck with your diet, Sig!
And Nags, my mother is the happiest when I lose weight – it’s been her mission ever since I was a kid!
Sig!! If I were you, I’d probably eat a bit of everything (in moderation of course) but I’ll eat it nonetheless. Nothing like ‘amma kai saapadu’
Enjoyyyyy!
Good luck with your diet!!
I remember the first time I went back from US and looking skinny thin (by busting out my butt in the gym every day). The first thing my Ammamma asked with a very worried look was ‘Are they paying you enough? Are you starving there?’
Hahahahaha!! I can imagine how your mom felt to see the “poor skinny” daughter
!
Enjoy the Sun. It snowed 6″ this morning, it’s absolutely wonderful to see. As you know we don’t get much snow here. Kids are off school, so busy day for me!
DO NOT GET “RICH” AGGGGAIN!!!
Now i wish my parents had that reaction
..they were so happy that i lost the weight finally
…and yeah i understand wanting to check ur weight coz no way in hell do you want to undo all the hardwork!! have fun…and keep posting here or FB
LOL, that is so common perception isn’t it? Same thing happen to me when I go back to the village…
They’ll ask if I am okay, and why are you so skinny?
Cheers,
Elra
I hear you:-)Only I miss hearing that now since my mom or my grandmom is not with me anymore…
Enjoy! Did u put that pic of the coconut trees to make us envy you?
He he, yeah, don’t get too “prosperous”

Enjoy your stay and eat everything you can. You can loose those extra lbs after coming back, even if you need, you may not get the food back here
LOL! Been there. Is that your hometown in the pic Sig, looks BEAUTIFUL. If it is, please do post more pics, so we can all enjoy it vicariously. Have fun.
Oh dear, I could see what u’re amma would have felt! But again u can continue dieting aftre coming…but can I imagine u saying “No” to the goodies ? Its a real battle between u and your weight! Good luck!
Thanks all! I have had the opposite reaction from my parents when I had put on weight the first time as well. But now they’ve gotten used to seeing me fat I guess
Anyway, I am not depriving myself of any goodies, just trying to do a bit of portion control, that’s it.
And yes, I am in Kerala. That picture is from my houseboat trip last year to the backwaters of Kumarakom. I have updated the post with the link.
it was fun to read the reaction you got
Have lots of yummy goodies and a great time with family & friends.
That is such a beautiful pic.
My Mom would only be too happy if that happened
Yup thats how my parents react when they see and mom and dad make it a point to make me bloat, which I can’t resist either
They can’t help it, Sig. Most people here think if you aren’t “healthy” then you’re probably not cooking or eating.:)
Isn’t Kerala pretty hot? If you are doing a lot of travelling, it must be tiring. Take care and have fun!
