A Hike to Remember and A Movie to Forget

Well, as expected, Sex and the City didn’t live up to the hype, at least for me. It had its fun moments and extremely witty one liners and most everything a woman could hope for - unbelievable clothes and shoes, lengthy fashion montages, romance and even a naked man in the shower scene; total objectification of men for a change. But all in all it didn’t entertain me as much as it could have! The plot was way too weak - even for a movie which is not meant to be anything more than an excuse for a viewing party - and it was stretched way too thin, the darn movie was almost two and a hours for heaven’s sake! And the fact that we caught the 11PM show didn’t help much either! But I have to admit that it was a fun night to be out in the town, so much fashion and glitz every where! It was the perfect girls night out!

I got back home at 2:30 am and can you believe I actually got up early Saturday morning and went for a hike!! I sometimes surprise even myself. :) This time M and I went to Twin Falls, one of the most scenic trails in the area with stunning views of the Snoqualmie river. It is an easy 2.6 miles trek that goes along the Snoqualmie river for the first half mile, then away from it with two terrific viewpoints and many peek-a-boo views of the twin falls along the hike. Wish I took my camera, but the cell phone had to do this time.

Twin Falls Hike

That’s all folks! On the cooking front, things have been really slow lately, if I do cook anything interesting, will share it for sure.

  10. arundathi on June 1st, 2008 8:22 pm

i guess i’ll still watch it though - maybe on a DVD in India, so I wouldn’t have to get back at 2 am! The hike looks stunning. So did Mr. Big make a cameo appearance?

Yep, it is worth going to the theatre for if you have the right company…. :) Oh the plot of the movie is around Carrie and Mr.Big’s wedding, so since you are a Mr.Big fan (I dunno why ;) ) there is the added bonus :D

  11. Purnima on June 1st, 2008 8:46 pm

Objectification of men? Maybe I’ll watch the movie after all!
Both you and your friend look good in the pix.

:) LOL, yeah that is a really good scene, and he is darn cute too… That scene is worth the price of admission ;)

  22. Trupti on June 2nd, 2008 1:35 am

Really beautiful pictures, Sig. Have no plans to see the movie..I was never into it while it was on Tv either. Have a good week ahead!

Thanks Trupti…. Yeah if you were not a series fan there is no point in seeing the movie, though they do have an intro section where they try to bring everyone up-to-date. But I don’t know how helpful it is to someone who never saw the series! :)

  23. Raaga on June 2nd, 2008 1:36 am

Sometimes who cares how the movie turned out… :-) my friends and I once went and watched this movie called Kaadhal Virus… it is the lousiest movie I’ve watched, but we laugh over it even today…

:) Yeah, you are right.. Even if the movie was great, we tend to forget the movie and remember all the other stuff like who we were with and what we did before and after… :)

  24. Asha on June 2nd, 2008 3:27 am

Oh, those S&C women give me the creeps, specially SJP! I like the youngest in the group.
Hike! I love hiking but I don’t have a supportive husband who is willing. He says I can’t handle it, so we don’t even try!:P
We are staying Blue Ridge mtn this Summer, see if I can drag everybody for hike in there!
Happy Monday, hugs for being 100th commenter!HeHe!

:) Lot of people don’t like SJP, I like her… and the youngest, you mean Charlotte, I don’t like her, she is too sweet for my taste… :D
Oh and for hiking I don’t have a supportive husband either… But I have some great friends… Have fun at the blue ridge mtn…

  25. Happy Cook on June 2nd, 2008 3:34 am

    Thnks for the review.
I would not watch the movie unless when it comesout in DVD and that too if hubby is not home.
Comming home by 2:30 so you had fun after the movie.
    Love the pic.
I did click to see the bigger version :-)

:) Yeah, it is a great DVD movie, get some girl friends over and have a party!

  26. Laavanya on June 2nd, 2008 4:09 am

Sig, all that hiking is paying off I think, you look slimmer :) I had trouble cooking when I wanted to shed some pounds (fast) before the India trip too… so i totally get that.
Sorry to hear that SATC was a disappointment…

Thanks Laav! Oh I am not on a diet…. I am not cooking because it is really busy at work, and even when I do cook I am too tired to take pics… :)

  27. Jyothsna on June 2nd, 2008 5:42 am

Sig, you already look slim in that picture…and that’s giving me a huge complex!!;)

I didn’t think I lost any weight till you guys told me I did… It is either the camera, or I think the two weeks of Siv’s sickness caused this… :) I have only been hiking twice this season, so that shouldn’t have any effect on the weight :D

  28. Kalai on June 2nd, 2008 8:12 am

Gorgeous pics, Sig!! The scenery looks absolutely stunning. I’ve still got to go and see Indiana Jones!

Thanks Kalai! And if you have to pick one or the other definitely go for Indiana Jones… Much more fun! :)

  29. Ramya's Mane Adige on June 2nd, 2008 11:39 am

those pics look gr8!! Sure, you had a good time….

    Thanks Ramya! :)

  30. Siri on June 2nd, 2008 11:44 am

Thanks for the review on S&C Sig. good that I didn’t drag myself to the movie.. I was about to last weekend..and trekking sounds so much fun gurl nice pics..

    Siri :(Flower):

Well, as I said before it still is a fun movie to watch in the theater if you can get some girl friends to go out with and make it a party night…. :)

  31. shilpa on June 2nd, 2008 12:47 pm

You look so nice in this picture Sig  . Beautiful place. If I sleep at 2.30, even if a tornado comes, I can’t wake up early

:) Thanks Shilpa! Yes, I am like that normally too, but once I committed to M, I wanted to stick to it… I hate it when people stands me up, so I try not to do that to others too…. :)

  32. sukanya on June 2nd, 2008 1:42 pm

    Hi Sig…
That place looks awesome. Nice pictures. U slept at 2.30 and got up early morning. Great! I can do that

:) Thanks Sukanya! As I told Shilpa above, I had to keep my word… :) Once I got out of the house I was okay…

  33. Kaykat on June 3rd, 2008 12:44 am

Ooo … love Twin Falls - must’ve been packed over the weekend!

    I’m impressed, night-owl, you! :D

Twin falls must be so easy for you, you hardcore hiker freakoid… :)

  34. Cassandra on June 3rd, 2008 5:42 am

    Hi,

I too went to see SATC this weekend with friends, and it was a fantastic night out.. the movie theatre was FILLED with women  I have to say I did like the movie, I found it heartbreaking at times, and very funny at others (much like the series itself). And of course the clothes / shoes were to die for!

    Your hike sounds great…
    Cassandra

HI Cassandra, glad you enjoyed SATC… My night out was fantastic too, the movie as such failed to impress me…. :( But it was worth it for the clothes and the shoes… :)

  35. Rajitha on June 4th, 2008 8:42 am

i would still go for the movie to see clothes and bags..and can i say i am jealous that you get to hike with your best bud….i miss the days i would go for these long walk my frnd..we would gab non-stop and when we were at the point of departure..stand in a corner and yep..gab some more :)
    have fun girl!

oh yeah, totally, it is not a waste of time to watch it with some girl friends… :) And yeah, the hiking gets much easier when you chat non-stop… :)

  36. Shantanu on June 8th, 2008 9:41 am

Hmm…this movie is certainly generating very mixed reviews. The other ‘nostalgia’ movie, Indiana Jones IV turned out to be quite entertaining.
