New Year Resolutions

1 January 2007 6 Comments

I haven’t made a new year resolution in a long time… I stopped making them since well, I never keep them… But this year I did make some new resolutions… If I published it, maybe it is easier to stick to these… so here goes.

  1. No more gambling…….
I have spent way too much money and time and energy the past year… So I resolve to not make it the default Friday night activity to go to Tulalip… I can’t resolve to not gamble forever, that will be a resolution I can’t keep… so other than an occasional poker tournament, and home poker games, and a Vegas trip here and there no more gambling for me.
  2. Find something meaningful to do…….…
with the spare time now that I don’t have to spend the whole Friday night in Tulalip and the whole Saturday sleeping to recuperate. I have some ideas hatching, like volunteering my time and skills, doing something I like to do, like organizing a poker tournament for seniors, writing a computer program for some NPOs in need….. Another idea is to start this style consultation for Indian girls here who haven’t adapted to the US style. They can just tweak some stuff here and there and blend in with the crowd instead of standing out so much with oily unruly hair and tapered jeans that should never be worn by any normal human being other than the sticky thin models, let alone us Indian gals with the big rear end and thighs that we are genetically blessed with. What most of these girls don’t realize is that it won’t break their bank to dress a little more stylish and take care of their nails and faces and hair. A small attitude change can make a big difference in their looks and confidence level. I have always wanted to do this as a business, something in lines of What not to wear and How do I Look… but since I love shopping so much and have a big passion for this, I would just do this for free.
  3. Make a plan for a plan…
Starting my own business is going to take a while, but at least I should start thinking about what I want to do, and how to get there.. sort of make a plan for a plan to work for myself… This is too vague, but this is a resolution that is going to evolve over time, by end of this year I will have a plan for a plan for my future.

Well, there it is….

Point.2 cracked me up! Well made point girl – and i must say that I like your style! But as long as one is comfortable with what they are doing (and their spouses), it should be OK right?

Nandita, you are right, if someone is comfortable with who they are, it is totally fine, but I am talking about those who are not, and can use a little help.. Moreover I don’t think anyone can really be comfortable in those jeans ;) ..It is just a pet-peeve of mine.

Reading blogs is my hobby this year. I have bookmarked many blogs and have been enjoying my time reading. I stumbled upon Mareen’s space yesterday and I got the link to yours from there. It was an interesting read- I am as much of a food lover as you are. The caramelized cat fish looks so yummy- I’m making it this weekend. I also went through your albums and I like your sense of dressing- City chic!
If you are interested in talking about shopping, clothes n other girlie-girl stuff am right here :)

    Hey Anonymous,
Thanks for taking the time to read. Would love to talk to you, I’m very much a girlie-girl :)

I totally agree with anonymous, I think you should start a blog on “how to dress/look good….for DesiDummies”
